DataBase of Award Winning Children’s Literature
http://www.dawcl.com/introduction.html
The purpose of this database (DAWCL) is to create a tailored reading list of quality children’s literature or to find out if a book has won one of the indexed awards. I expect the user to be a librarian or a teacher intervening for a child-reader, however anyone may make use of it to find the best in children’s literature including parents, book store personnel, and children and young adults themselves.
The site creator, Lisa Bartle is a reference librarian at California State University, San Bernardino. Lisa is deeply committed to the idea of providing information for free. She believes that the Internet has given everyone the ability to collaborate, to create new services, and to share information. In May 2002, she created ABC-Lit: An Index to Children’s Literature Scholarship – another free resource to aid those interested in children’s literature.
